Back in Chicago but a GREAT trip!
It was tono f fun. LAt night I played and sang with my ultra-mega-talented friends Liz and John at the hotel following the concert. People were singing along and having a great time. My bud Bill chimed in on harmonies for Roxanne and Bruce surpised us all with his voice; David picked some blue grass-it was fun!!! I didn't know I worked with so many musically talented folks!
The Talking stick was great. Small but appreciative crowd. Hi Nathan and Blancaflor! Gilli opened up the evening and played magnificently (as usual). I played a little percussion for one of her tunes and she made a remark aboout my leaving Chicago to play in her band...hmm, chicago or percussion with gilli....;-)
Friday I received a WONDERFUL massage and soime physical therapy from Ann, one of the housemates where I was staying. She takes her healing craft very seriously and it shows.
Also go to see the amazing radio personality Jennifer J!!!
Costa Mesa was great-I was overcome there on Saturday afternoon I went to church and there had a revelation of how much God loves us all like children-and our love for our kids is only a glimmer of that....tears kept welling up in my eyes...God speaks in the weirdest places and times...
Was supposed to fly out of Orange COunty but my flight was cancelled, so I tooled over to LAX and was able to catch the 12:30pm flight there. Wasn't my preferred mode of travel but it worked.
I got tot he airport and am waiting and who should walk by and give a few autographs but Mohammed Ali!!!! The guy can barely walk but every fan that asked him got an autograph...I made the mistake of asking his body guard and he said no...I patted his broad shoulders and said, "God bless you champ..."
Got home and the cab picks me up; he's listening to a jazz station. I about halfway home the theme from "TAXI" comes on the radio!!!! Too weird!!
It's nice to be home greeted by my mom and dog-I'll sleep well tonight...
